Thirty years of building, learning and adapting. 1996 — 2026
In June 1996, I registered Webweaver.com and started Web Weaver Design Services in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The commercial web was still young. Most businesses were only beginning to understand what a website was—or why they might need one.
What started with building websites soon grew into helping businesses with computers, networks and technology in general. Webweaver became much more than web design.
Webweaver built and hosted websites for businesses and organizations, including some of my earliest customers in the Ann Arbor area. Over the years, I would build and host roughly 50 websites.
Customers rarely needed just a website. They needed computers configured, networks connected, problems solved and someone they could call when technology stopped cooperating.
In August 2000, Web Weaver Design Services became Webweaver, LLC.
By 2003, Webweaver had grown well beyond its beginnings in web design. We were hosting websites on Linux and Windows servers, offering server colocation and e-commerce services, and had become a Smoothwall Partner/Reseller.
Alongside the business, my career moved deeper into systems administration, networking, servers, storage and enterprise infrastructure. The tools changed. The problem-solving never did.
After nearly two decades, Webweaver, LLC officially closed in February 2015. The business was gone, but the name had been part of my life since 1996 — and I wasn't quite ready to let it disappear.
Today, it's become something different — a place for the things I'm building, exploring and preserving. Thirty years later, I'm still curious about what comes next.
